The UVI Research and Technology Park welcomed 157 young learners Friday morning at its headquarters to celebrate Pi Day. The event, hosted in partnership with Farm Education for All and the Children’s Museum of St. Croix, aimed to introduce kindergarten and pre-K students to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Agriculture, and Mathematics through hands-on learning experiences. Since 1969, St. Croix's St. Patrick's Day parade has grown in leaps and bounds to what many say is the largest such parade in the Caribbean. Saturday will see "the wearing of the green" begin to sprout before the parade begins promptly at 11 a.m. The 54th St. Patrick’s Day Parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, in front of Fort Christiansvaern in Christiansted, St. Croix. The parade will proceed along Company Street to Market Street, then continue onto King Street before concluding back at the fort. The St Croix St Patrick’s Day Parade got its official start in 1969 when a group of local businessmen got together on March 17th and started to talk about local celebrations. They wondered why an island that celebrates with any excuse, didn’t have an official St Paddy’s celebration.
